Simply Human Looking at the timeline of the human race we have come to certain associations with being human. Whether it be emotionally, physically, or mentally. Certain standards reach each threshold. However besides saying we’re human we seem to contrast ourselves to other animals instead of just defining human. Simply being human to me means having a conscience and mixing morals into the melting pot we call ourselves.
What does it mean to be human? Honestly, is there even an answer to that question? It seems like it would all be just opinions and never an actual factual definition. Personally being human is like a complex and terrifying roller coaster ride you can never get off of. You have a choice to be good or evil. An success or an failure. To achieve your goals or to go with the flow and deal with every emotional, exciting, and horrible thing that is being thrown your way. Point being to be human just means you can't be a care-free, lazy cat.
What does it mean to be human? That question has different interpretations, and different meaning all thru out time. The scientific meaning is the modern species of humans, the only extant species of the primate tribe Hominini. But to be human is more than that. The emotions we use today, the interactions we have with one another, the way our outlook is on life itself, all have a relative meaning on what “humans” are or what actually makes a human being a human. Look at the word, humanity. It means the condition or quality of being human. Another definition is the quality of being humane (benevolence).
It means that you are alive and blood is flowing through your body. You are able to walk and talk. You are able to interact with others. You can experience pain and sorrow. You notice the change of seasons. You get to shop or hunt for your food.
What does it mean to be “human,” to be a human being? It means we have put ourselves above anything else on this planet. We are a selfish, human race only caring about ourselves and our surroundings. We kill animals, sea life, even each other. We have harmed the planet and will continue until we have nothing left. Sure there are good people out there but are there enough to save our race? Can we all become selfless and really put others in front of ourselves? Whoever may read this do something for the greater good? Be kind, helpful and love.
Being human means more than just breathing air or being alive. Animals can do that. Being human means we can do things that other creatures can’t. We can not only have a life, but we can live it to the fullest. We can grow up to have an education, a career and a family. Some choose not to follow the same path, but they too live. Joining the military, fighting for something you believe in. From the house mom with six kids to the CEO of a major company. We all live, we just choose to do it differently, but the way we live is what makes us human. Being able to have a purpose in this life.
What does it mean to be a human? Being a human simply means to be born with five senses. A human usually is what we think of being able to walk upright, and having certain characteristics that differentiate us from other species. Thinking to be able to make logical decisions. Knowing right from wrong is usually instilled in a child at a young age. Think of a time when we tell a younger sibling or family member no or to stop they cease. Many other species wouldn’t know what that meant without saying so repetitively.
What does it mean to be human? Can we really ask our self’s that question?! Being human can mean so many different thing like trying to help other when they are in need. We are alive and breathing. Blood runs through our veins noon stop all the time. We are Able to talk and communicate with others. You are said to be human if you have a conscience and have the morals do live a long life. Being a human is easy and requires no effort. Can we really call our self’s humans?
To be human is to have a soul. All animals have life but do not have a soul like humans do. It is also our intellect that separates us from the wild beasts. You can look all around God’s green earth and see beauty and wonder but the human race stands alone. People have made comparison of the apes and humans but I myself have never seen the close relation. Humans are also created in the image of God, meaning that we have an understanding of good and evil. Along with these things, humans can choose what kind of person that they want to be, as animals are what they are.
Being human doesn’t just mean that you’re an everyday person who breathes and eats food. Being human, is more of a ticket in the world to achieve anything you really put your mind too. Think of any other species, besides a human, and think what choices they really have in life. If a squirrel sees a nut somewhere, its not going to stop and think, “well maybe I shouldn’t eat that I’ve already eaten a lot today.” Their instincts come in to play, not their personal choice. A human has the choice of anything, whether it’s sitting down and relaxing for a day, or something more challenging like learning a new language. With the right mind set, humans can do what every other species wishes they could do, live a life with choices.
Being human means to be alive. Not being perfect, to make mistakes sometimes. Having your mind and heart. Being human mean to live your life, to be free. Making your own choices. Also to not be controlled by someone else or something else. Most important being human means to be normal, to show feelings, to care, having normal behavior. To just be yourself.
I suppose there are many ways to define the term human being depending on what you consider to be human. Webster’s defines it simply: a person. Urban dictionary’s definition doesn’t mesh however defining human being as “A parasite that kills, destroys everything in its path over a long period of time. It is ignorant and doesn't listen to reason eventually eradicating all signs of life due to its stupidity and unreasonable attitude. This parasite is the worst thing that happened to earth since Eve ate that damn apple.” My definition is a little less dramatic than Urban Dictionary’s and maybe has a little more substance than Webster’s. Human Being: any living and breathing person.
The phrase “be a human” or “to be a human being” refers to a specific manner of living that is either morally right or socially normal. I have seen this expression has been used by those has been previously ignored in attempts to convey his consciousness and mental capability as an entity and to regain the attention of others. This has been many times said to those who are acting ridiculously or simply awkwardly. It can also be used in discussion to say that the “lack of humanity” of others is the reason for their animosity and cruelty.
What does it mean to be human? I like to think in order to be considered human, a person must have the ability to make their own free choices. They need to be able to make these choices based off of, intelligent and logical decision making. In a physical sense; a human has to be capable of upright walking, language speaking, more advanced brain capacities, and the ability to change the world. A human also should have to ability to use tools and information to aid themselves.
To be human is to make mistakes. We all strive for something, whether it’s to be the absolute best version of ourselves or the absolute worst version of ourselves. Along the way, no matter what path we’re on, we all mess up. Some of us and take that and we learn from it and grow from it. Some of us sulk in self-pity and let it destroy us or at least deter us from the path. To be human also means to be resilient and to love. Whether we admit it or not, most people yearn for love (exception would be a psychopath).
To be a human is to be one of us, to have a culture a history. This is the most fundamental question about our existence, and to understand the wholeness of a human being is to view the emotions and morality. The humans being is the same like human race, and that include different kinds of people and ways of thinking about life, the universe and everything. I think we are taught to be humane, to be good people wherever we live and wherever we do.
When asked what a human being is people would say what "we" are. However, that does not tell us what being a human is. Every time someone makes a mistake the reasoning is "we are only human." So, what makes us human? I would assume to be human means to make mistakes and to be free and capable of making their own mistakes.
My personal feelings on what makes you human is you must have a sense of compassion. If you have no empathy or emotions, then to me, you might as well be dead inside. The most human thing is the ability to be charitable and caring. Also you need to have a conscience and be able to tell right from wrong and act accordingly. I see people who are able to murder, rape, and hurt people less fortunate as completely inhuman. You should always be good to your fellow man and never judge. To know that you are no better than anyone because of your status, to show humility and love for everyone including people you don’t particularly like, this is humanity that should be universal.
Being human, is being a person. Having an existence in the world, and a purpose in life. To be human, you have to have a sense of morality. You love and want to be loved. You get upset, things go wrong, stuff happens. We tend to act on our emotions or feelings. However if we didn’t, they’d say we weren’t human! Humans make mistakes and they also learn from them. Well most of us. It’s what makes us who we are as a person. It’s only “human” to be a “human”. We are the entire human race. Possessing these characteristic traits is what makes us human and defines us as being human.
What does it mean to be human? Being human is more than the ability to breathe, more than having a face and heart. Being human is having the ability to make decisions for ones’ self, to think deeply about the things of the world, and the ability to find love. In being human, we can make choices that will lead us in different life directions, good and bad. Some things that other species cannot do, living a very routine life.
To be human is to love deeply and to feel pain so deep you are numb in side. People say that when you do something wrong that your only human. Does that mean you don’t know the difference between right and wrong? I feel that to be human is a great gift that God has given us. We have to show compassion for others and take care of each other and our bodies to keep us healthy. To be human is to forgive someone that has done you wrong and letting go of the pain .

ReplyDeleteTo be human is easy; to be humane is hard. The human who is not humane is actually a sub-human demon wearing a costume of human flesh.
